TESTIMONIAL - JH Building Contractors What can we say about JH Building Contractors (John & James Hayes)? John and James came into our life in August 2018 when we requested a quotation to build a new lounge and solve a radical drainage problem in our rear garden! We were very impressed with John’s quotation, compared with the other three companies we had approached, as it detailed the material and labour costs, not to mention his technical knowledge, expertise and experience. Work started on our new lounge in early September and was completed in late December. The end result exceeded all our expectations; the quality of the workmanship and attention to detail is amazing! John and James only use the most professionally trained contractors and each and every one of them are of the highest calibre and integrity (i.e. plasterers, roofers, electricians and plumbers). John and James were a pleasure to have around! They are incredibly punctual and were always on the job by 8.00 am every morning. The rapport and respect they have for one another is amazing with light hearted banter and good humour always evident. We sought opinions from both John and James on ideas for windows, bifold doors, lighting and landscaping, and they were honest in their suggestions and not afraid to tell us if they thought we were wasting our money or making an unwise decision. Needless-to-say, the end result exceeded our expectations! John and James are tidy workers and never left without sweeping-up or hosing down and we never questioned their honesty or integrity. The rear garden drainage problem proved to be an arduous task with John and James working in muddy conditions digging out a drainage system with deep trenches, laying pipework and ensuring it connected properly to our storm drain. They have also assisted us in redesigning and landscaping our rear garden to an unbelievable standard. We have, quite honestly, missed John and James since they completed the new build just before C

House Extension This was our first experience of extending our property, our main concern was finding the right builder as you hear so many stories. As this was our first build we looked for recommendations and John soon appeared as builder via an architect who put us in touch. We also found five or six other to give a variety of quotes. John came to the house and instantly we felt comfortable that he knew his stuff, even recommending modifications to the build to enhance its look, which we took on. We decided to move forward with the build choosing john as our building contractor, he wasn’t the cheapest nor the most expensive. The target was 14 weeks to complete the build which was agreed and work commenced, the job was completed ahead of schedule and to an extremely high standard. Once the job started they did not move on to another job until ours was completed. All of the service contractors used were highly skilled. John had a respect from all his contractors and suppliers meaning he was never let down and all deliveries were first thing in the morning. Every aspect of the build was clear and easy to understand, payments were set out and no upfront requests were made. " We met john when we gained permission for a large extension to our house. Among the builders we consulted John appeared interested and was tunned to our requirement for the extension. The work commended in January 2010 and took approx 6 months to complete as scheduled, during this period we got to know John and his team really well. John is hard working and committed to his work, his team of electricians, plasterers, carpenters, tilers, plumbers are all honest and hard working men. We lived in our house during the extension, so we got to see John's work closely. I found John to be helpful and kind hearted as he ensured we had our privacy and comfort during the work. He was mindful, dedicated and addressed issues we had while the extension was being done to our satisfaction. John worked hard until the extension was completed and he was particular about cleanliness. "

" We have recently had an en-suite bathroom build by JH Building Contractors. All through the process john and Keiran were very reliable, coming when they said they would and the job has been completed well within the time-scales promised. We have been very happy with the quality of work and the blend of the new bathroom to the old house is really excellent. Even with the terrible weather John came to ensure the roof was as water tight as possible during the building work. The figure quoted has been accurate and the minor additional costs were completely justified to the work done. We have since asked John to quote us for another job. We would have no hesitation recommending JH building contractors based on our experience. "

" We have used JHB services on 2 projects, a kitchen extension and an ensuite installation and we are pleased with both jobs. The project management of the 2 jobs ensured that they were completed within the planned timescales. Bricklayers, roofers, plasters, tilers, electrician, plumbers and carpenter were competent tradesmen and completed their jobs to a high standard. "

"I entered into a contract with JH Building Contractors to refurbish our garage. The garage is old (circle 150 years) and large(700 square foot) with three seperate roofs, one of which was structurally unsound. The large and heavy doors into our courtyard did not open and the blue brick floor, which had no damp proof course, was always damp. It might have been simpler to re-build the garage but our preference was to keep the external appearance of the garage in keeping with the rest of the house and so we decided to refurbish. In tackling refurbishment projects like this it is always difficult to specify exactly what is wanted as very often the conditions are only fully revealed as the work progresses. The contract value was approaching £30,000 and we specified that we wanted the job completed before 25th August 2012. Despite delays due to the weather and the door supplier and changes to the specification the job was finished on 14th August, ahead of schedule and final cost is close to the contract value. The work executed has been to a high standard and although we have refined the specification in all but one area the end result is probably preferable to our original plan. Throughout the process John Hayes and his team have demonstrated considerable professionalism, as you would expect from an experienced and highly regarded builder. He has been prompt in quoting and invoicing, always starting work on site at 8am and finishing by 5pm, working hard whilst at work, leaving the workplace clean and secure each evening and organising materials, labour and machinery efficiently and effectively. The delays due to the weather and the door were outside his control. Would I enter into a contract with JH Building Contractors again? Yes I would but the one lesson I have learnt is that I should have paid even greater attention to my requirements prior to contract.
